Stories from Oral Traditions
Mistfire Press recognizes and values the art of the oral tradition which predates the written word. It is our hope to contribute to the preservation of this intimate form of storytelling, especially in areas where changes to traditional life or language has seen the decline of this artform.
Our goal is to create a digital archive of stories, recorded in their native languages and accompanied by professional translations. If you are a professional storyteller or would like to be involved in helping to keep these ancient stories alive, please reach out to us via our Contact form.
Film and Animation
While Mistfire Press is primarily focused on publishing books, recorded oral stories, and creative games, we will periodically host short film and animation competitions to discover new talent and creative ideas. For information about when the next competition will be, subscribe to our newsletter.
Games
Mistfire Press is looking for games which are not only fun, but that have a strong story and make narrative elements a major focus of their design.
Board Games
Board games must accommodate 2 or more players (unless your game includes a solo variant). While most board game submissions are for 2-6 player games, we will accept proposals for games with support for even more players.
Game proposals should be unique and compelling, and must represent a game which has been fully created and playtested (not just a concept).
Pen and Paper RPGs
Tabletop RPG (TTRPG) submissions should be for an original game system, or for one using Open Game Systems which do not infringe upon the intellectual property of others.
Roleplaying games, in addition to interesting character creation options, should include playtested adventures and creative settings. Player characters should be at the center of your roleplaying game and its potential stories.
Video and Computer Games
Mistfire Press does not produce video or computer games at this time.
